Registration

How Much Does Each Session Cost?

$380 Per two-week session and $250 for Session 4 which is one week long.

You can calculate the total cost of the camp by adding the fee per session based on the number of sessions you need your child to attend.

Where is the Queens Camp Site Located?

Legacy Queens Summer Camp Site is located at PS 135Q 207-11 89th Avenue, Queens Village, NY 11427. The camp entrance is on 207th Street.

Program

What is the age range of the campers?

  • General Camp: be 5-10 years old.

  • PreK- Kinder Camp: At least 4 years old by June 20th, 2024.

How Long Is A Typical Camp Day?

Standard arrival is at 9 am, and the day runs until dismissal at 5:45 pm.

Is Transportation Provided?
Legacy does not provide pickup or drop-off transportation services. The parent or guardian must bring/pick up the camper to the program building.

Do you offer a Morning Extended Day Start?
Yes, morning drop-off is available and must be selected on your application. Arrival is strictly between 8 am and 8:15 am. The cost for this service is $30 per session. Campers are provided breakfast if attending Morning Extension.

What is your Staff to Camper Ratio?
Our ratio policies follow those the NYC Department of Health set: 1 counselor for every ten children.

What is the total number of campers in the Pre-K Group?
The PreK group has 15 children and two primary staff responsible for enrichment, supervision, and learning! This group also has an additional two staff members for support.

How Many T-Shirts Do The Campers Receive?
Each child will receive Dri Fit T-shirts for use every day at camp. Campers will not be accepted if the camp shirt is not worn. Legacy will no longer provide cleaning services.

Are Breakfast and Lunch Provided For The Campers?
There is no Breakfast or Lunch services at Camp. Parents will be responsible for sending lunch with their child daily. Children will be able to warm food that is packed. Legacy also has a snack store in which campers may purchase items.

What Are The Activities The Children Participate In?
Participants may go on at least two trips per session, water days twice a week, in-house visits from various artists and cultural organizations, and hands-on workshops. The camp will also focus on science, arts, and general activities.

How Do Campers Travel On Trips?
Legacy campers always travel either by walking or by train and or by bus. All staff is always available and reachable during trips, and trips are in the City of New York.

Where Do I Pick Up My Child For Summer Camp Dismissal?
Dismissal is at the 207th Street doors. All adults must show ID to pick up their child, and parents must list all who will be authorized on the ProCare app.* Dismissal is from 5:30 pm to 5:45 pm every day.

What if I need to pick up my child early from camp?
Since we are an active camp and may be out on activities or a trip, you MUST coordinate your specified pickup time with the camp director by contacting us using the ProCare App by 11 am the day of. Early pickup times are 2:00 pm and or 4:30 pm.

Payment

Can I Leave A Deposit To Secure A Spot For My Child?
Yes, when registering, a deposit is required to secure a spot. The Deposit is $200, which is applied to the sessions you book your child to attend. Deposits are spread in $50 increments for each session you select on your application.

I Need to Switch a Session, or I Am Planning To Go On Vacation, So My Child May Miss A Week. Is That An Issue?

We will set up a camp schedule that will accommodate your vacation during registration. This accommodation should be mentioned during your registration so that we know you have plans. Session-switching is allowed until May 23rd, regardless of your child's registration. If your child is registered after this date, changes will not be permitted unless approved by the Office of Membership.

When Is The Deadline For Payment For The First Session My Child Will Attend?

  • The first payment for campers starting on or after ( July 3rd, 2023) must be made by May 23rd, 2023.

  • Any registration accepted for Sessions 1-4 after June 19th will not be allowed to leave a deposit and will require full payment of the first session.

My Child Is Already Registered; How Do I Pay Down My Balance Before Camp Begins?
Your bill will be visible on your ProCare Account. You can always make payments directly on ProCare leading up to camp.

Will there be a Camp Orientation?

  • Legacy Queens Summer Camp site orientation will be a ZOOM Video Conference. Attendance is mandatory for your child to attend camp. Parents who have registered will be notified on ProCare with link information.

What is the ProCare App?
ProCare is an app that ALL parents are required to download to their phones. This app allows us to send updates regarding camp, trip information, and alerts and will enable parents to communicate with staff directly and make payments. ProCare improves communication with you and our program while your child is in camp.

I Already Have The Procare App. Is There Something I Should Do To Connect?

If your child attended our after-school programs, you would have to go to the app settings and switch your school to “ legacy summer camp” We suggest doing this in June. If your child participated in a summer camp program and no other program, you can leave your app as is.

How Do I Pay For Sessions Once My Child Is In The Program? 
Once your child attends camp, you may pay by cash, check, or money order on the Thursday before the start of the following session. You can pay using your ProCare app. Campers who are registered members will be able to view their invoices on the ProCare app. Payments can also be made using Zelle.

Can I Get a Refund if I Need to Cancel? 
Legacy does not allow refunds under any case and for any reason.

Medical

Does My Child Need a Physical?
Your child must have a valid physical stamp from the doctor before starting camp. Please visit our registration page for our MEDICAL FORM or submit your own.

What Is Legacy Policy on Medications?
If your child has an asthma pump, they can use it during camp, and campers should be able to administer medications themselves. During registration, the camp director will discuss any medication concerns with you on a case-by-case basis.

What Is Legacy Policy on Individual Education Plans ( IEP)?
We understand that every child is different and all families have the same common interest, for their child to have an enjoyable, safe summer. We require that your child's IEP be uploaded so our membership office and our summer staff understand how to serve your child best. IEPs give us a window into how your child may communicate with peers or need additional guidance and support during the summer.

What Is Legacy Policy on Behavior Expectations and Behavior Policy?
We have adopted the same behavior expectations that all NYC students must follow the entire school year. Legacy follows the New York City Behavioral Expectations Code. To review the policy, click here.

How does the staff handle Food Allergies?
Staff is trained in dealing with all allergies and special food restrictions. Should your child have an allergy or restrictions, Please list their allergies on ProCare and provide information on the medical form. Activities, Parties, and celebrations will be tailored to include your child’s partiIf your child has an asthma pump; they can use it during camp. Is Legacy a Peanut Free & Tree Nut Free Program?
All Legacy programs are Peanut & Nut Free. We ensure that peanut and tree nut products are not served to our members. Additionally, parents should ensure that when packing snacks for their children, they should not contain nut products. Staff is trained to deal with children who have allergies and how to administer care for allergic reactions of any type. Celebrations and parties during camp will be adjusted to serve foods that observe allergy concerns.

Is The Staff Certified in CPR & First Aid?
Legacy follows the NYC Department of Health code by ensuring that every staff member undergoes extensive readiness training before camp begins. Staff receives CPR and First Aid training through the American Heart Association. Furthermore, the Executive Staff and Health Director additionally hold advanced certifications in CPR for adults & infants, Responding to Emergencies, & Advanced First Aid by the American Heart Association. Our camp is always equipped with first aid kits and AED at all times, and staff carries a First Aid Kit Emergency Strap Bag when on trips.

Is Legacy Summer Camp Licensed?
Yes, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene License licenses Legacy Harlem Summer Camp. This summer camp is a subsidiary of The Legacy Corporation and Legacy Youth Organization serving thousands of NYC students since 2002.
